Rachel Harvey played an integral role in the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team’s two weekend victories. Harvey led the Queens (and their opponents) in scoring both games.

In Friday’s 74-57 win over the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings, Harvey contributed 20 points and five rebounds. The fifth-year forward was perfect from the free-throw line, sinking 6-of-6 attempts.

Then in Saturday’s 66-50 victory against NAIT, Harvey, an Open Studies student from Brooks, accumulated 23 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Once again, Harvey was efficient, connecting on eightof-10 shots from the field and seven out of 10 attempts from the free-throw line.

When conference action resumes, Harvey and the RDP Queens will play a two-game set against the Kodiaks at Lethbridge Polytechnic on January 10 and 11, 2025.

Clay Sleeva
Kings Hockey
Program – Business Certificate (1st)
Hometown – Canora, Saskatchewan

First-year forward Clay Sleeva had a strong weekend for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team, contributing two goals and one assist in a pair of wins at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Sleeva, a first-year forward, had an assist on teammate Liam Stalwick’s goal in the Kings’ decisive 7-3 victory over the Portage College Voyageurs on Friday.

On Saturday, Sleeva, a Business Certificate student from Canora, Saskatchewan, scored the Kings’ fourth and fifth goals in the Polytechnic’s 5-2 decision against Portage College. He was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

In 12 games, Sleeva has recorded eight points.

Sleeva and the Kings will return to regular season competition against the SAIT Trojans on January 10 and 11, 2025.
