Emergency Services extinguishes fire at duplex in south Red Deer

Red Deer Emergency Services responded to a house fire over the weekend in south Red Deer.

In the early afternoon on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024, Red Deer’s Deputy Chief of Emergency Services Tyler Pelke said the fire took place on one side of a duplex residence on Addington Drive.

When crews arrived there was quite a bit of smoke coming out of the rear of the residence. They made a quick entry and extinguished a fire that originated in the kitchen.

Pelke says there was damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the residence but adds, there was no structural damage,

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation and no one was injured. Pelke notes, the lone occupant came home to the fire and wasn’t inside when it started.
