Rebels ink Toporowski to bolster blueline

The Red Deer Rebels have added some permanent American punch on the back end with the signing of Dmitri Toporowski.

Toporowski, an 18-year-old blueliner from Massachusetts, has appeared in four games with the Rebels as an affiliated player, and earned an assist in his WHL debut on Nov. 23 at home against Victoria.

The La Ronge Ice Wolves d-man collected nine points, including three goals, plus 50 penalty minutes, in 16 SJHL games this season.

He was selected by the Prince Albert Raiders 21st overall in the 2021 U.S. Priority Draft.

Per the Rebels, Dmitri’s dad, Shayne Toporowski, played for Prince Albert from 1992-95. His uncles, Brad and Kerry, and cousins, Jake and Luke, also all played in the Western Hockey League.
