Dec 2, 2024 | 4:39 PM

An assault case related to an incident that happened in Maskwacis in 2022 recently wrapped up in Wetaskiwin Court of Justice.

RCMP initially stated that on Feb. 24, 2022, they had responded to an alleged assault in Maskwacis, just north of Ponoka.

Police said at the time that three males had all been charged with one count each of attempted murder, forcible confinement, and uttering threats.

On day one of his trial earlier this fall, Connor Saddleback of Montana First Nation, who is now 30, pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing bodily harm. He was sentenced to eight months in jail, minus four months for time already served; he is also not to have any contact with the victim.
