The 2024 CPKC Holiday Train will soon return to Central Alberta.

The train will make its first stop in Central Alberta on Dec. 11 and will continue through until the final stop on Dec. 20 bringing holiday cheer to those across the country.

They began their tour through Canada and the U.S. on Nov. 21 helping raise money and food for local food banks.

CPKC, which stands for Canadian Pacific Kansas City, is a combination of two historic railways.

On each stop CPKC donates to the local food banks and encourages all attendees to do the same. Those in attendance also get to take in a free concert by a professional musician on a stage in front of the train.

“The Holiday Train unites people in the spirit of the season as it travels across Canada and the United States, while generating critical support for our neighbours in need through the program’s support of local food banks,” said Keith Creel, CPKC President and Chief Executive Officer on the CPKC website.

“We are pleased to again send this magical train on a four-week trip across our network spreading holiday joy as we collect food and raise money to fight food insecurity. We look forward to seeing all the smiles and cheers from people young and old coming together in the spirit of giving.”
