This Week in RDP Athletics: Nov. 29-30

Basketball, hockey and volleyball (oh my!) are all on the docket this weekend for the RDP Kings and Queens as regular seasons wind down.

Here’s how it’ll shake out:

Basketball

RDP Queens at University of Alberta Augustana | Friday, November 29 | 6 pm

The second place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team (5-2) will compete against the sixth seed University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (1-7). Lacombe’s Mia Cunningham, a Queens’ second-year guard, sits second in the league in three-point shooting (42.9%).

Queens at NAIT | Saturday, November 30 | 6 pm

The RDP Queens will tip-off against the fourth place NAIT Ooks (2-6) in Edmonton.

RDP Kings at U of A Augustana Vikings | Friday, November 29 | 8 pm

The third seed Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball team (5-2) will play the seventh place University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (0-8) in Camrose. The Kings have averaged 40 rebounds per game.

Kings at NAIT | Saturday, November 30 | 8 pm

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings will challenge the fourth place NAIT Ooks (4-4) on the road.

Hockey

Queens vs Broncos | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 30 | 7 pm

In its lone weekend game, the third place RDP Queens Hockey team (7W-4L-1 OTL) will face-off against the fourth seed Olds College Broncos (3W-7L-1 OTL). Queens’ defender Kaedence Mollin (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) sits fourth in league scoring with 12 points.

Kings vs Voyageurs | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, November 29 | 7 pm

The fourth place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team (5W-4L-1 OTL) will play the seventh seed Portage College Voyageurs (2W-8L-0 OTL). The Kings have killed off 79.1 per cent of their penalties.

RDP Kings vs Voyageurs | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 30 | 1 pm

The Kings will wrap up their two-game series against the Voyageurs.

Volleyball

Queens vs Vikings | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, November 29 | 6 pm

The second seed Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team (5-2) will host the sixth place University of Alberta Augustana Vikings (3-4). Queens’ middle blocker Autumn Roos (Bachelor of Education Middle Years) ranks fourth in the league with 0.68 blocks per set.

RDP Queens vs NAIT | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 30 | 6 pm

The Queens will play the fourth place NAIT Ooks (5-2).

Kings vs Vikings | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, November 29 | 8 pm

The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Volleyball team (7-0) will face the fifth seed U of A Augustana Vikings (1-6) in the Fas Gas – On The Run Gymnasium. Kings’ setter Brett Theise (Business Administration-General Management) ranks third in the league with 8.32 assists per set.

Kings vs Ooks | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, November 30 | 8 pm

The RDP Kings Volleyball team will take on the third place NAIT Ooks (4-3) at home.
