Red Deer’s ‘100+ Women Who Care’ launch new era after 10 years

It’s a new era for 100+ Women Who Care Red Deer (WWCRD) as the philanthropic organization welcomes in new leadership.

The group was formed a decade ago under the guidance of Cindy Jefferies and Susan Knopp, but will move forward with Bre Fitzpatrick and Lane Tomalty at the helm.

Since inception, WWCRD has raised over $630,000 for nearly 40 local charities, via quarterly one-hour meetings.

“Leading 100+ Women has been an honour and a privilege. When we began this journey, we didn’t know where it would go — we simply loved the simple, elegant, and fun ‘100 Who Care’ concept and thought it was a great fit for our community,” Jefferies and Knopp say in a joint comment.

“We are grateful to the many women who have stood with us. They are the magic of the organization. We are confident Bre and Lane will steward this leadership role well and we look forward to supporting it — just not from behind the microphone.”

Fitzpatrick and Tomalty are well-known voices and faces in Red Deer, and say they’re ready to build on the foundation their predecessors have laid.

“Many needs are at the doorstep of our community and in the hearts and minds of our members,” they say.

“We know a powerful, caring, and united group of individuals can play a huge role in driving change and breaking barriers.”

WWCRD held its final meeting of 2024 on Nov. 25, with this quarter’s donations benefiting the Salvation Army.

The first meeting of 2025 will be held Feb. 3 and is open to all women in the Red Deer region.
