Red Deer Recreation Centre to temporarily close

The Red Deer Recreation Centre will be temporarily closed in December for annual maintenance.

The City of Red Deer announced the facility will be closed from Monday, Dec. 2 to Sunday, Dec. 22 and will reopen on Monday, Dec. 23. Holiday hours can be found on the City of Red Deer website.

The yearly shutdown gives staff at the centre an opportunity to do a meticulous inspection and maintenance on all equipment and technical systems.

Recreation Centre customer service representatives will still be available for gift card purchases and registrations from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., from Dec. 2-22.

The city says that throughout the temporary closure, the Michener Aquatic Centre will have additional swimming lanes.

A reminder also that Recreation Value Pass holders can access the Michener Aquatic Centre, with opportunities are listed on the swimming schedule.

Recreation Centre December hours are as follows:

Dec. 1: 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Dec. 2 – 20: Monday to Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Customer Service Only

Dec. 23: 5:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Dec. 24: 5:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Dec. 25 & 26: Closed

Dec. 27-30: Regular Hours

Dec. 31: 5:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Jan. 1: Closed

Jan. 2: 5:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Resume Regular Hours
