Red Deer pair wins $100,000 on lottery ticket

A pair of Red Deerians became $100,000 richer after purchasing a lottery ticket.

Charlene L. and Lance A. checked their Western 6/49 tickets at a store when they found out they won the $100K Extra!

In a media release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, Charlene described her reaction.

“I took it up to the cashier—stunned—and asked her to check it on the terminal too,” Nielson said. “When I realized it was real, I wanted to tell someone.

“Then I realized I’d left my cell phone at home so I couldn’t call anyone to tell them.”

They had bought the ticket at Market West Grocer and Bakery at 110-3722 57 Avenue in Red Deer.

They plan to use the money to purchase a van and travel through eastern Canada. They also plan to put some new flooring in their home.

“It’s shocking and it hasn’t sunk in yet, but we’re happy.”
