Innisfail RCMP preparing for annual Charity Checkstop

Innisfail RCMP’s 28th annual Charity Checkstop is right around the corner.

On Dec. 7 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., police will be set up on 50 Street between 48 and 49 Avenue accepting donations for the Innisfail Food Bank, Innisfail Christmas Bureau and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.

The donations will be accepted from both eastbound and westbound traffic with the help of RCMP members and volunteers.

The checkstop will be hard to miss as the police will have their emergency lights on; those not wishing to donate will be able to pass through.

In addition to monetary donations, the RCMP will also be accepting new toys, food, and clothing.

“In this season of giving and celebrating let’s provide as much help as we can to those less fortunate. Help donate and make this Christmas season a great one for everyone,” it’s stated in a media release.

Police say that in years past, the community has been very generous and last year helped raise $14,065.70 for local charities.
