RDP Athletes of the week: Nov. 8-10

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Kaedence Mollin (Queens Hockey) and Nolan Doell (Kings Hockey) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week.

Kaedence Mollin

Queens Hockey

Program – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (3rd)

Hometown – Kelowna, BC

Kaedence Mollin was a key contributor to the RDP Queens Hockey team’s two wins this past weekend. While taking care of the defensive zone, Mollin recorded a total of four points against the Olds College Broncos and Medicine Hat College Rattlers.

In Friday’s 2-1 victory in Olds, the talented defender assisted on teammate Mia McGregor’s opening goal and helped set up Hayley Kolosky’s overtime winner.

Kelowna’s Mollin had another strong performance in the Polytechnic’s 7-2 decision against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers on Saturday. Mollin, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, scored the Queens’ third goal which turned out to be the game winning goal. She also assisted on the Queens’ fourth goal scored by Julie Wagner.

In nine games, Mollin leads the Queens’ defenders with nine points.

Nolan Doell

Kings Hockey

Program – Bachelor of Education Middle Years (3rd)

Hometown – Martensville, Saskatchewan

This past weekend, Nolan Doell made an impact on the ice for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Hockey team. Doell recorded four points, helping the Kings earn a pair of victories over the University of Alberta – Augustana Vikings.

In Friday’s 6-3 win, the third-year forward scored the Kings’ fifth and sixth goals, providing insurance for RDP.

Then, Doell, a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, recorded the Polytechnic’s second goal and assisted on the team’s third marker scored by Kasey Hiemstra in the Kings’ 5-0 shutout victory on Saturday.

In seven games, Doell has five goals and one assist.
