RDP Queens to host 2025 CCAA Women’s Soccer Nationals

Nov 5, 2024 | 5:26 PM

Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics announced Tuesday that they’ll welcome Canada’s top female collegiate soccer teams to the city next fall.

After a successful bid, the RDP Queens soccer team will host the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Soccer National Championship from Nov. 5-8, 2025.

“We are proud to welcome the top Canadian collegiate women’s soccer teams to Red Deer next year,” said Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life at RDP in a media release.

“We will leverage our success of hosting recent CCAA National Championships to ensure that student-athletes, athletics staff and fans across Canada have an enjoyable and memorable experience.”

Over the last few years the Queens have solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference and in 2022, won their first ever provincial title, advancing to the CCAA National Championships. Injuries piled up for the Queens but they still finished sixth in Canada.

This season the Queens finished with a 9-3 record and finished fourth in the ACAC Championship in Grande Prairie.

“Mahziar Peyrow, Queens Soccer Head Coach, and his staff have done an excellent job of recruiting student-athletes who strive for excellence in the classroom, during competition and as ambassadors in the community,” Stewart added.

“With nine first-year student-athletes and three second-year players this season, the RDP Queens will build on their experiences as they prepare to compete for both the ACAC and CCAA Championships in 2025.”

In recent years, RDP has hosted multiple national tournaments including the 2019 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship and 2024 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

They anticipate hundreds of soccer fans from across Central Alberta will attend the four-day tournament so the event will be hosted at Setter’s Place in Great Chief Park in Red Deer.

On Nov. 4, 2025 they’ll kick off festivities with the CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship Awards Banquet and Opening Ceremonies held in Holiday Inn & Suites in South Red Deer.
