SUPPORTING FAMILIES THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS

Outreach Centre’s Holiday Hope campaign kicks off for the winter season

Nov 1, 2024 | 10:42 AM

The Outreach Centre is launching its annual Holiday Hope campaign, which aims to bring joy, comfort, and support to families in need during the holiday season.

“Funds raised through the Holiday Hope Campaign will allow The Outreach Centre to meet the increasing needs of our community,” says Ian Wheeliker, executive director of The Outreach Centre. “As more families face financial and emotional challenges, the support we provide becomes even more essential. These funds will ensure that we can continue to offer critical services and programs that bring stability and hope to those who need it most, especially during the holiday season.”

There will be plenty of opportunities for community members to contribute, including:

Day of Holiday Hope – November 15

The Outreach Centre will be broadcasting live throughout the day on BIG 105.5FM and 106.7 Rewind Radio, with staff and those who have benefitted from its services sharing their stories. This day will focus on raising awareness about pressing needs within the community, particularly during the holiday season.

Adopt a Family

This program anonymously matches sponsors with single parent families who need some extra help to provide for their family over the holidays. Utilizing donated funds, The Outreach Centre will provide central Alberta families with gift cards so they can purchase the gifts or food they know their family needs. Last year, 708 clients were served through the program.

Lip Sync Battle

This fundraiser hits the stage at Bo’s Bar and Stage for its ninth year on November 28 and December 12. Tickets for both shows can be purchased as of Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. This year, The Outreach Centre also held a virtual battle, the winner of which will be featured at the live shows.
