In an effort to foster open communication between police and families in the community, officers from the Red Deer RCMP Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT) and Red Deer RCMP Police and Crisis Team (PACT) partnered with local schools to offer information sessions on Oct. 21 and 23.

Held at St. Joseph High School and Central Middle School, YCAT shared information about online safety, anti-bullying strategies, and legal aspects affecting young people today. These discussions aimed to equip parents and guardians with tools to help their children navigate challenges they may face in the digital age and beyond.

“Our goal is to support families by offering insights into issues that impact our youth, providing them with knowledge to make informed decisions” said Cpl. Amber Prosser, NCO of Red Deer RCMP YCAT. “When we work together, we build a more safer, more resilient community.”

Officers answered questions and took feedback from the community, which police say indicated a “strong appreciation” for the proactive and informative nature of the event.
