Alberta launches new grant to support communities facing rapid growth

The Alberta government has unveiled a new grant to help take some pressure off some of the province’s fastest growing municipalities.

Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver was in Lethbridge on Tuesday, October 22 to announce the creation of the Local Growth and Sustainability Grant (LGSG). The grant will provide $60 million over three years to help municipalities experiencing population growth-related pressures on public infrastructure.

McIver says the grant comes after lots of consultations with small-to-medium size municipalities about what they need.
