Downtown Red Deer assault suspect sought by RCMP

Red Deer RCMP are seeking information about a person allegedly involved in a downtown assault on Thursday, Oct. 17

At approximately 6:40 a.m. that day, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon outside of a local business.

Officers attended the business, located near 49 Avenue and 45 Street downtown, and learned that an unknown male had allegedly attempted to hit the victim with a hammer. The victim was able to use their car door to protect themselves and leave the situation unharmed, police say.

The suspect is described as:

• Approximately 6 feet
• Male
• Slim build
• Wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants with a white logo on the left knee and grey running shoes
