THREE PER CENT WAGE INCREASE

Red Deer ratifies CUPE agreement

Oct 2, 2024 | 11:36 AM

The City of Red Deer and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 417 have approved a new collective agreement.

The new three-year agreement is retroactively effective from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026. It includes wage increases of:

  • January 1, 2024: Three per cent
  • January 1, 2025: Three per cent
  • January 1, 2026: Three per cent

“Having a three-year deal in place gives us stability over the long-term,” said Tara Lodewyk, City Manager.

City officials say the agreement considers inflation rates and broader economic challenges that are affecting municipalities across Canada through a proactive approach that supports its employees and community services.

The organizational costs associated with the agreement will be funded through The City’s operating budget. CUPE represents over 1,100 City of Red Deer employees, working in a variety of roles, both inside and outside.
