Big Brothers Big Sisters aiming to raise funds and find mentors at weekend BBQ

Sep 26, 2024 | 1:36 PM

The community is invited to a fundraising barbecue for Youth HQ and the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) program on September 28.

Food will be available by donation, and there will be activities for all ages, like a bouncy castle and games, during the event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at KCB Design Build Remodel.

BBBS month takes place annually in September and aims to match kids in the Red Deer area with a caring mentor. Right now, there are 80 kids on the waitlist hoping to get matched with a mentor.

“With over 80 Littles waiting for a BIG in the Red Deer area, this event gives us the opportunity to connect with the community in a really fun way and find the amazing mentors we know are out there,” says Terri Blanchard, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Red Deer & District manager.
