Public invited to Red Deer Regional Airport terminal expansion and 25th anniversary celebration

Sep 25, 2024 | 4:19 PM

The Red Deer Regional Airport invites the public to a grand opening ceremony of its newly expanded terminal on September 26, 2024, which coincides with the authority’s 25th anniversary.

The new terminal is a 10,000-square-foot addition featuring upgraded amenities like a dedicated security screening area, baggage pick-up space, and a future customs area to accomodate international flights.

The celebration of the expansion will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the airport, with an official ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. The first 200 guests will be treated to a complimentary barbecue.

Attendees can also experience an interactive journey through the airport’s history, explore its current operations, and discover future land development plans.

“The new terminal is not just a building; it symbolizes a new chapter for Red Deer Regional Airport. We’re eager to showcase how this expansion will enhance connectivity for Central Alberta and create opportunities for future growth,” said Interim CEO Nancy Paish.

The grand opening will also be used as an opportunity to thank partners, stakeholders, and community members who have supported the airport’s development over the last 25 years.
