second trial to come in may 2025

Former Red Deer massage therapist gets 90 days in jail on second sexual assault charge

A former Red Deer massage therapist has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for a second charge of sexual assault against him.

It was December 2022 when RCMP announced that Brian Moore had been charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident in February of that year. On that charge, he still stands accused and has not been convicted.

At the time, however, RCMP encouraged other alleged victims of Moore to come forward.

It was in April 2023, rdnewsNOW has learned, that a second victim did come forward to pursue charges, and Moore was charged a second time with one count of sexual assault.

In both cases, RCMP records state that Moore was working as a massage therapist at the time, and at least on the one that took place most recently, it was at a downtown chiropractic office.

According to RCMP, the first incident occurred before the one that was first reported, in fall 2015; and that is the file for which Moore, now 53, was in Court of King’s Bench for sentencing this past Monday, Sept. 23.

As noted, Moore was sentenced to 90 days in jail, to be served intermittently. He was also given probation, as well as a 10-year ban on all weapons and ammo, and a lifetime ban on restricted weapons.

The victim’s identity in both cases is under a publication ban.

Moore had a jury trial in April 2024 on the first charge — stemming from the February 2022 incident but a mistrial was declared. A new trial on that charge is slated for May 2025.
