Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics has announced McKenna Leslie (Queens Soccer) and Grant Johnson (Kings Soccer) as the RDP Athletes of the Week.

McKenna Leslie Queens, Soccer Program – Bachelor of Education (1st) Hometown – Red Deer, Alberta

McKenna Leslie played an integral role in the RDP Queens Soccer team picking up two important victories in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge this past weekend. Leslie, a talented first-year forward, led the way offensively for the Queens, contributing a total of three goals and three assists. The Bachelor of Education student scored three goals and added two assists, helping the RDP Queens convincingly defeat the Medicine Hat College Rattlers 8-2. Leslie was named the Queens Player of the Game.

In Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks, Leslie continued her tremendous play, recording an assist on the Queens’ first goal. After four regular season games, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (3-1-0) rank second in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Soccer South Division with nine points.

Grant Johnson Kings Soccer Program – Open Studies (3rd) Hometown – Red Deer, Alberta

Grant Johnson had an outstanding weekend on the pitch, helping the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Soccer team earn a win and a tie on the road. Using his speed, Johnson was a dangerous offensive force, contributing a total of two goals and two assists. In Saturday’s 3-2 victory over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, Red Deer’s Johnson scored twice and was named the Kings Player of the Game.

Then on Sunday, Johnson, an Open Studies student, assisted on both goals in the RDP Kings’ 2-2 draw with the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks. The RDP Kings (1-1-2) sit in third spot in the ACAC Men’s Soccer South Division with five points.
