Citizens on Patrol needs new members in Ponoka

Ponoka RCMP are seeking new members for its Citizens on Patrol program (COPP).

COPP is a community-led program where members assist in reducing crime by being the ‘eyes and ears’ both their community and law enforcement.

The goals of COPP include:

• Deterrence – including observation, documentation and reporting to provide presence in the community patrolling by vehicle, foot, bicycle, etc.
• Education – of volunteers about crime prevention
• Awareness – of suspicious and dangerous unusual activities in a community
• Safety – of members
