Sep 7, 2024 | 6:45 PM

The Red Deer Symphony Orchestra (RDSO) is saying goodbye to one executive director and welcoming a new one this week.

Jennette Miller recently resigned to become executive director at Calgary Civic Symphony.

Taking over for Miller is Matthew Whitfield, who’s been with the organization in a marketing and communications capacity for the last two years.

Whitfield holds degrees from York University (BFA) and the University of Toronto (MMus).

Reflecting on Miller’s time with RDSO, she, “played a pivotal role in the orchestra’s success, leading the RDSO through significant milestones. Her efforts have been instrumental in expanding the RDSO’s reach to new audiences through initiatives like Symphony @ the Snell, Community Concerts, and other community programming.

She was also executive producer on Wandering With Wonder, which led to a 2023 AMPIA Rosie Award.
