Soroptimist Central Alberta hosting free event with domestic violence speaker

Sep 4, 2024 | 7:04 AM

Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is inviting the public to a free open house featuring a powerful presentation on domestic violence.

Deena Kordt, the club’s 2024 Ruby Award winner, will present ‘Disrupting the stigma around domestic violence’ on Sept. 10, from 6:30-8:30 at the Rosedale Hall (2 Roland Street, Red Deer).

Kordt is a podcaster, publisher, author, and empowerment coach who draws from her personal journey to passionately empower woman and girls, and is the creator of UGlowGRL.

“This timely presentation is important and essential, as the Outreach Centre’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event will take place Sept. 18, and our club will soon begin promoting our Purple Light Nights Project, an awareness campaign to honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence, to support survivors and give hope to those still living with abuse,” the Soroptimist club says.
