RDCRS students to focus on serving others as they return to school next week

Aug 30, 2024 | 12:05 PM

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools students and staff will be returning to the classroom next week to start a fun and fulfilling school year.

This year, officials say Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools will be celebrating the final year of a three-year faith theme, “Inspired by Christ on a journey to encounter, nurture, and serve.”

Over the coming months, officials say school communities will highlight the importance of living out our faith by serving and helping others, especially those most vulnerable and in need. Jesus’ approach to teaching was marked by a deep engagement with people’s everyday lives and favoring those who most need it.

A number of schools within the division are proceeding with staggered entry on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sep. 4 to ensure students receive additional personalized attention from their teacher as they return to the classroom, say officials.

Schools utilizing staggered entry this year include École Camille J. Lerouge School, École Mother Teresa Catholic School, École Our Lady of the Rosary School, École Secondaire Notre Dame High School, St. Dominic Catholic High School, St. Elizabeth Seton School, St. Gregory the Great Catholic School, St. Joseph High School, St. Lorenzo Ruiz Middle School, St. Martin de Porres School, and St. Thomas Aquinas Middle School.

With students returning to school next week, RDCRS officials ask that drivers stay vigilant, obey speed limits, and stop for school buses as required. Officials say the safety of students is a shared responsibility, and it appreciates cooperation from motorists in maintaining safe school zones.

“Welcome back to a new school year filled with opportunities for growth and success,” says Board Chair Murray Hollman. “Your enthusiasm, resilience, and commitment to learning continue to inspire us all, and I look forward to seeing the incredible achievements you will accomplish this year.”

“As we start this new school year, I am excited to see the enthusiasm and potential each student brings,” says Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Finnigan. “Our commitment is to provide a nurturing environment where students can explore their passions and reach new heights. Let’s make this year one of inspiration and success.”
