Trial set for local teen accused of assaulting Red Deer transit driver

A trial date has been scheduled for an 18-year-old resident accused of assaulting a Red Deer transit driver this spring.

Drake Edward Davidson, of Red Deer, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer Court of Justice on April 14, 2025.

He was charged following an alleged assault on a local transit driver on May 21, 2024. Mounties say the victim did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Drake Davidson was charged with the following:

  • Two counts: assault with a weapon
  • One count: assault causing bodily harm
  • One count: resisting arrest
  • One count: causing a disturbance
  • One count: uttering threats
  • Two counts: possessing a weapon for dangerous purposes
  • One count: possessing a concealed weapon

It was at 12:41 p.m. that day when Red Deer RCMP received a report that a bus driver was assaulted at Sorensen Station.

According to RCMP and victim statements, the suspect was acting belligerent and was asked to leave the bus. He allegedly became agitated and tried to attack the driver with a knife but was unsuccessful.

When RCMP arrived, they say the suspect attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended and arrested.

RCMP say Davidson appeared before a justice of the peace and was released on a $1000 no-cash bail.
