UPDATE: Heavy rainfall continues for Red Deer area Wednesday evening

A Special Weather Statement issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) for the Red Deer area on Tuesday remains in effect for Wednesday night.

The statement is also in effect for an area ranging from Ponoka in the north, right to the U.S. border.

According to ECCC:

“Heavy rain and strong winds, gusting to 70 km/h, will end early this evening. Rainfall totals of 40 mm are expected by this evening.”

The forecast calls for a low of 6 overnight, before it gets balmy once again on Thursday with a high of 23.

Friday’s forecast calls for 24 degrees and sunshine with the nice weather sticking around for the Labour Day long weekend with highs of 24, 28, and 29 for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
