Police up reward to $10,000 for info leading to arrest of Alberta murder suspect

The reward for information that leads to the arrest of an Alberta murder suspect is now $10,000, RCMP shared Friday.

Elijah Blake Strawberry, 28, is wanted in connection to the Aug. 6 Strathmore murder of Colin John Hough of Airdrie.

RCMP said in the days that followed that they believed Strawberry had not fled the province of Alberta, and out up a $2,000 reward.

In the meantime, 35-year-old Arthur Wayne Penner had also been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Alberta RCMP, in coordination with British Columbia and Saskatchewan RCMP, as well as members of the Edmonton and Calgary Police Service, Lethbridge Police Service, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), and the provincial Sheriffs, are working together in the search for Strawberry.

Upon Strawberry’s arrest, the determination of entitlement to the $10,000 reward will be made by the RCMP commanding officer, in its sole discretion. Such decision is final, binding, and not reviewable by a Court of Law, RCMP note.

Only those persons who come forward with information which is received by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or other legitimate law enforcement agency involved in the investigation between August 23 and August 30, 2024, will be considered for a reward.

Any person or persons having information regarding Elijah Blake Strawberry are asked to communicate that information immediately to the Strathmore RCMP at 403-934-3535 or call 911.

You can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.tipsubmit.com, or by SMS (www.crimestoppers.ab.ca for instructions). You do not have to reveal your identity. Crime Stoppers does not subscribe to call display and the identity of the caller will remain anonymous.

RCMP remind that Strawberry is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach; dial 911 immediately.

Strawberry is described as 28-years-old, 6 feet and 1 inch tall, and 169 pounds with brown hair.
