Catalyst Incubator opens registration for fall and winter programming

Aug 20, 2024 | 11:37 AM

The Catalyst Incubator, a cohort-based program intended to help startups foster new ideas and make critical connections, has opened registration for fall 2024 and winter 2025 programming.

Officials say the Catalyst Incubator is 100 per cent funded by the Central Alberta Innovation Network through Alberta Innovates and is free to attend for all eligible entrepreneurs. The program is eight weeks long with over 50 hours of training, coaching, and mentorship and peer support.

“An incubator can be the difference between ultimate success and failure for a new idea,” said project manager Cathy Forner. “We are proud to be able to provide this opportunity to entrepreneurs in Central Alberta and help them get their ideas off the ground.”

This incubator focuses on startups in manufacturing, agriculture, technology, energy innovation, and other sectors.

Qualified entrepreneurs will have access to coaches who guide them through the startup process and keep them focused with weekly tasks, streamlined networking and introductions to the right people. Officials say the intention is for them to gain a better understanding of customer issues and which opportunities to pursue, as well as an understanding of engagement, testing, and feedback. They will also learn key objectives of how to build a robust and successful company, with both industry-wide and business-specific considerations.
