BEGINS SEPTEMBER 4

The Hub 2.0 extending hours to include additional program day

Aug 19, 2024 | 4:00 PM

The Hub 2.0, an outreach program offered by the Red Deer Arts Council, is growing and will soon be offering new programs on an additional day per week starting in September.

Currently, the Hub 2.0 runs every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but it will offer additional programming during the same hours on Fridays as of September 4, 2024, an extension being dubbed The Hub 3.0.

On August 21, program participants or interested residents will have a chance to join in on a celebration of the extended hours.

The program, which offers kids ‘A place for you to shine,” is held in the Northside Community Centre YMCA. Activities offered include art, movement, theatre, and karaoke.

The Hub is a program designed to serve those community members with developmental, cognitive, and physical disabilities. The program opened in 2021 and tries to offer a space fostering creativity, self-expression, belonging, learning, and social connection.

The program’s expansion is the result of funding from the provincial Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women’s Community Initiatives program, the Life Long Learning Council of Red Deer, Alberta Advanced Education, the City of Red Deer, as well as donations from the Alberta Treasury Branch, Central Alberta Brain Injury Society, YMCA Northern Alberta, Northside Community Centre YMCA, and many other contributors.
