Penhold Fall Festival returns for 2024

The Town of Penhold is looking forward to welcoming guests from all over central Alberta to its annual Fall Festival on Sept. 6 and 7, 2024.

Organizers say the event is fun for the whole family with activities and events for many ages and stages of life.

Friday evening starts off the fun with the Ma & Pa’s Bakery Café Show & Shine from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Multiplex parking lot will be filled with vehicles to check out and enter your vote for ‘Fan Favourite’ and ‘Most Unique’ awards.

Mayor Mike’s Mini Marathon for a Cause is also back for 2024, benefitting local community groups. Organizers say this fun run will indeed be a “mini” marathon because it is only 0.5 km. Mini donuts and lemonade will be served at the half way mark. This year, organizers say Mayor Mike Yargeau has selected a lumberjack theme. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed participant.

The Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Festival also happens Friday night, where everyone is invited to discover new flavors, mingle with fellow enthusiasts, and enjoy a lively atmosphere while sampling creations from Alberta based breweries, wineries and distilleries. The event is open to those 18+ and tickets are required.

Visitors can also enjoy rides, food trucks and fireworks starting at 9 p.m.

The annual parade starts at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, say organizers, with the theme for 2024 being “Dreams Take Flight”. The 7 Penhold Air Cadet Squadron will serve as the honorary parade marshal. Registration deadline for the parade is Aug. 31, 2024.

Throughout Saturday, an afternoon of fun is planned, say organizers, with mini golf, Kids Korner, cultural dancing displays, pie eating contest, chainsaw carving, rides, food trucks and vendor market.

“Fall Festival is one of my favourite events of the year. It is such a thrill to see people coming to Penhold from all over to enjoy all the events and activities,” says Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau. “The Mini Marathon is 500 m of fun with mini doughnuts at the half way mark, the kids love getting candy at the parade, and it is great to have a new provider for rides this year.”
