Arrest made after shots reported in Louis Bull First Nation

An arrest has been made in relation to a shooting incident that occurred on Louis Bull First Nation early this month.

On August 7, 2024, Maskwacis RCMP received report of a shooting and arrived to find a 15-year-old with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and a second victim, who was allegedly hit by a car and had minor injuries, was treated and released.

On August 8, Kashton Fearious Bull was arrested in relation to the incident after Maskwacis and Strathcona RCMP, as well as the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a hotel room in Sherwood Park.

Bull, 24-years-old and residing in Edmonton and Louis Bull First Nation, has been charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  • Weapons offences (x4)

Police also allegedly found a loaded semi-automatic rifle in the hotel room.

Bull has been taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for Aug. 22, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.

“We are thankful to the members of the public who came forward and provided crucial information that allowed us to quickly identify and locate this suspect,” said Staff Sergeant Richard Mckay of the Maskwacis RCMP, “bravely working together is the only way we can put an end to senseless violence.”
