Aug 7, 2024 | 3:19 PM

An Innisfail resident has been arrested after being surveilled through a habitual offender management program, police say.

On August 6, Innisfail RCMP observed a “high risk repeat offender” allegedly driving a truck with a flatbed trailer while under a criminal suspension from vehicle operation.

RCMP, aware of this sentencing condition, arrested the individual without incident for driving while suspended. A search of his truck and trailer allegedly resulted in the seizure of:

  • Over 1500 lbs of stripped copper wire
  • Dozens of break and enter tools
  • Untaxed illegal cigarettes
  • Stolen licence plate
  • Bear spray and machetes

Police say they found numerous other tools they believed to be stolen property and are working on locating the owners.

Peter George Walker, 39-years-old, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession property obtained by crime (x2)
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Operate Motor Vehicle while prohibited
  • Possession of break and enter tools
  • Possession of untaxed tobacco contrary to the Excise act
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle
  • Display unauthorized plate on a vehicle
  • Driver unregistered vehicle

Walker was held in custody by the RCMP for a judicial interim release hearing and released by a justice of the peace without bail. He is scheduled to appear at Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on August 27, 2024.
