Year-Round Schooling

St. Patrick’s Community School students to return to class this week

Aug 6, 2024 | 3:19 PM

St. Patrick’s Community School, Red Deer Catholic Regional School’s sole year-round school, is excited to welcome 616 students back for another enriching academic year this Thursday, August 8.

District officials say their year-round education model is designed to offer students a holistic and engaging learning experience throughout the year. With more frequent breaks, officials say students benefit from enhanced retention and a smooth, uninterrupted educational journey.

“We are excited to start the 2024-25 school year at St. Patrick’s Community School,” said Mandy Reed, St. Patrick’s Community School principal. “Our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing a nurturing and engaging environment that will inspire our students to reach their fullest potential. We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new students and families to our campus on August 12 for a fantastic start to the new academic year.

Staggered Entry Days:

To ensure a smooth start for everyone, August 8 and 9, 2024, have been designated as staggered entry days. Officials say this phased entry approach allows teachers to give personalized attention to each student, helping them acclimate to their new learning environments before the entire school gathers on August 12.

Meet the Staff Night:

Join school officials on August 14, 2024, from 4 – 6 pm for their “Meet the Staff” Popsicles in the Park event. This special event offers students and their families the chance to connect with staff members, while fostering a strong sense of community and building meaningful relationships.

Safety in School Zones:

As the school year begins, Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools remind all drivers to exercise caution in school zones. With students returning, officials remind you it is crucial to stay vigilant, obey speed limits, and stop for school buses as required. The safety of students is a shared responsibility, and they appreciate the community’s cooperation in maintaining safe school zones.
