EFFECTIVE JULY 29

Sylvan Lake lifts water restriction and returns to conservation

Jul 29, 2024 | 2:14 PM

The Town of Sylvan Lake has lifted its stage two water restrictions and is reverting to regular water conservation efforts as of July 29, 2024.

The following water conservation guidelines are still in place:

  • All homes watering ban everyday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
  • All homes, anytime: turn off your water if it is running into the street or sewer system. Watering further only wastes money and water.
  • Odd numbered homes: water lawn, garden, or yard only on odd numbered days.
  • Even numbered homes: water lawn, garden, or yard only on even numbered days.
  • Hand watering: any home may water by hand with a water jug on any day of the week, any time of day.
  • New sod or seed: water on any day of the week, any time of day.
  • Residents can also download a PDF of the rules here.

Stage two restrictions were implemented due to wasteful water practices draining the wells faster than they could refill. The Town thanks residents for their efforts, which prevented the need for restrictions to escalate to stage three or continue for longer.

Town officials add that water conservation is not the same as a restriction. Conservation is an annual program that began in 1996 and still allows residents to water gardens and lawns as necessary, just on certain days and within certain hours to avoid large draws to the system at one time.
