Every major radio station across Alberta will on Wednesday hold a major fundraising effort for Jasper, a small resort town and national park that was ravaged by wildfire last week.

The Alberta Day of Caring for Jasper, an effort led by Pattison Media, will feature two ways to help: a bottle drive and direct Red Cross donations.

Anyone wishing to participate can bring their empty recyclable bottles and cans to any Alberta bottle depot and say “these are for Jasper”.

Those who are interested in dropping off bottles can find the nearest depot at FindADepot.ca.

The drive will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross and those impacted by the wildfire, according to organizers.

Plastic pop bottles, aluminum pop cans, juice boxes and pouches, mil cartons and glass juice bottles are among the items that can be dropped off, according to the Alberta Bottle Depot Association.

Drinkable yogurt containers, water bottles, alcohol bottles and vegetable juice cans are also included on a list from the association.

All donations on Wednesday will be matched by the provincial and federal governments, so donations made will have triple the impact, organizers said.
