Veterans Voices of Canada holding item drive for wildfire victims

Jul 26, 2024 | 11:57 AM

Veterans Voices of Canada is hosting an item collection drive starting this weekend to support Albertans displaced and otherwise affected by wildfires.

The drive will go for at least a week from Unit 254 (near entrance) 2, at Parkland Mall, and during mall hours (10-6 Saturday, 11-5 Sunday etc.).

“Veterans Voices of Canada is a charity that is about doing good for veterans and keeping history alive,” says executive director Al Cameron.

“Veterans fought for freedoms so we could do all the amazing things we do, but also they fought and died for us to now ensure we help others and help mankind.”

Cameron is asking for items that are new or gently used.

He says people who’ve been displaced to Red Deer can come by, otherwise he assures the items will ultimately get to the communities where they need to be.

The organization is also looking for a few volunteers to help at the donation drop-off location.

To sign up or for more information, contact Al Cameron at 403-358-6313.
