Warrant Remains For Dorian O'Shea Hunter

Stay of proceedings for two of three charged in central Alberta shooting

There has been a stay of proceedings for two of three people charged in a central Alberta shooting last month.

Trey Littlechild, 25, and Alyssa Soosay, 29, both of the Samson Cree Nation, saw their matters stayed in Wetaskiwin Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), it was determined there was no reasonable likelihood of conviction so the charges against both accused were stayed.

The third suspect, Dorian O’Shea Hunter, 23, of Maskwacis, currently has a warrant out for his arrest.

It was on June 10, 2024, when Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a shooting on the Samson Cree Nation.

Mounties say an investigation into the incident revealed that multiple bullets were fired into a residence occupied by several children and adults. The investigation by police led to the arrest of two individuals and the execution of a Search Warrant at a residence in Wetaskiwin. During that search, police say they recovered prohibited firearms and magazines.

At this time, police are still searching for Dorian O’Shea Hunter, sn relation to this incident, as he’s wanted for:

  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition;
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized (X2);
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm; and
  • Failing to comply with a release order.

Trey Littlechild, 24, a resident of Samson Cree Nation was charged with:

  • Possession of a prohibited device contrary to an Order (X2);
  • Possession of a prohibited device knowing its possession is unauthorized;
  • Failing to comply with a release order; and
  • Failing to comply with a probation order.

Alyssa Soosay, 29, a resident of Samson Cree Nation was charged with:

  • Discharging a firearm with intent; and
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.
