"COMMUNITY IN CRISIS"

Stettler comittee holding town hall to address doctor retention challenges

Jul 23, 2024 | 9:48 AM

The Stettler Needs Doctors community group will hold a town hall meeting this week to present their vision and share concerns relating to the area’s challenges in recruiting and retaining doctors.

“We believe we are a community in crisis as far as healthcare delivery is concerned,” says Leona Thorogood, committee member and town hall moderator, on behalf of the group.

On July 25 at 6 p.m., residents are invited to the Stettler Recreation Centre to learn who the organization is and what they do, what is working and what is creating challenges regarding healthcare delivery in the area , and how the Town might move forward on the issue.

There will be presentations from Larry Clark, reeve of the County of Stettler, Sean Nolls, mayor of the Town of Stettler, and members of the Stettler Needs Doctors committee. Invitations to present have been sent to Alberta Health Services and provincial government representatives, although they are not confirmed yet, say organizers.
