Local talent to take part in Canada’s National Under-17 Development Camp

Jul 16, 2024 | 1:44 PM

A pair of Red Deer Rebels prospects and a Lacombe hockey player are among those taking part in Canada’s National Under-17 Development Camp in Ontario this month.

Beckett Hamilton, a forward from Saskatoon, SK, and Payton Shore, a goaltender from Winnipeg, MB, are the Red Deer Rebels prospects that will take part in the camp at Joshua’s Creek Arenas in Oakville, Ont. from July 18-24.

Lacombe’s Daxon Rudolph, a defenceman with the Northern Alberta Xtreme of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL), will also be at camp.

Officials say all 80 participants have been drafted by Canadian Hockey League clubs, while a select few have already made their CHL debut.

While this marks one of their first opportunities to impress Team Canada brass in person, officials say players will continue to be evaluated at the beginning of the 2024-25 regular season before rosters are finalized for the 2024 U17 World Challenge.

The event runs from November 1-9, 2024, in Sarnia, Ont.
