Two people arrested in Penhold for property crime and drug offences

Two individuals connected to property crime offences were arrested in Penhold on July 10.

Innisfail RCMP were patrolling the town and noticed a red van towing a utility trailer parked behind a home with residents known to participate in property crime. The license plate of the trailer was determined to be stolen from Calgary.

Officers say they observed a large amount of cut cables and copper wiring, as well as tools associated with break-ins in the back of the trailer when they approached the vehicle to address the three people within.

Mounties say the driver was arrested, however at first, the passenger provided a false identity. Another officer arrived on-scene and identified the passenger as someone with multiple warrants out for their arrest. They were also arrested.

Officers searched the vehicle and found numerous break in tools, including bolt cutters, pry bars, and binoculars. They also located six grams of suspected fentanyl and seven grams of suspected methamphetamine. The weight of the insulated wire was 355 pounds.

Patrick Carson Raycraft, a Red Deer resident, was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, two counts
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Possession of Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
  • Possession of unstamped Tobacco

Randy Lee Soule, no fixed address, was charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, two counts
  • Possession of break in instruments
  • Possession of Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Controlled Substance – Fentanyl
  • Excise Act – Possession of unstamped Tobacco
  • Breach of Conditions, three counts
  • Obstruction

Soule also had 13 warrants split between the location of Innisfail, Lacombe and Red Deer.

Raycraft was released roadside via an appearance notice to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on Aug. 27, 2024. After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Soule was remanded to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red deer on July 11, 2024.
