Canada Day Incident

Sylvan Lake RCMP investigate death

Jul 5, 2024 | 12:19 PM

Investigators have determined the death of a woman in central Alberta over the Canada Day long weekend was not suspicious in nature.

On July 1, 2024, at 10 a.m., Sylvan Lake RCMP received a report of a sudden death of a 35-year-old woman in the Jarvis Bay area of Sylvan Lake.

RCMP attended and say the body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy was conducted on July 2, 2024.

However, due to the complex nature of the investigation, the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to assist Sylvan Lake RCMP. Mounties say the investigation included an extensive search of the property, obtaining witness statements, reviewing video surveillance, and working in conjunction with the Medical Examiner’s Office.
