JULY 24

Smart Farm tour to showcase future of pasture management

Jul 4, 2024 | 10:40 AM

The Grey Wooded Forest Association invites residents to join them, along with Olds College, for an interactive field day focused on the future of pasture management.

On July 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Laio Sobrinho, research manager, and Brianna Gratton, techgronomist at Olds College, will demonstrate and discuss the technologies being studied at the Smart Farm.

They will showcase the rising plate meter, water level sensors, electric fence monitors, and nitrate meter, and explain how these tools can be used to improve pasture management and support rotational grazing practices.

Attendees will start the day at Pitstra Farm for a field tour where they will have the opportunity to see these technologies in action. In the afternoon, participants can enjoy presentations about the Nutrition Composition of Alberta Pastures Research by Abby Redman, and Specialty Forages by Grant Lastiwka.
