Letter: Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra looks ahead to 2024-25 season

Jul 3, 2024 | 4:18 PM

We are delighted to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the City of Red Deer and its wonderful residents for their unwavering support of the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra. Your enthusiastic backing has been instrumental in making our recent season an extraordinary success, and we are excited about the future as we continue to bring diverse and inclusive musical experiences to our community.

One of the highlights of our journey this year has been the prestigious Mayor’s Recognition Award for Fine and Performing Arts, bestowed upon our esteemed conductor, Dr. James Bicigo. This accolade not only honours Jim’s remarkable contributions to the arts, but also reflects the collective effort and passion that fuels our orchestra. Jim’s leadership has been pivotal in shaping our repertoire and performances, ensuring that each concert resonates deeply with our audience.

Our season has been filled with memorable performances, thanks to the dedication of our talented musicians, special guest artists, our student intern program, and the enthusiastic response from our audience. From classic symphonies to contemporary pieces, each performance has been a celebration of musical diversity and artistic expression. The success of our season is a testament to the strong partnership we share with the City of Red Deer, Capstone and the surrounding area.

As we look ahead, we are thrilled about the upcoming season, which promises to be even more spectacular. We have an exciting lineup of selections and guest artists that will captivate and inspire. Our commitment to fostering a rich and inclusive cultural landscape remains steadfast, and we are eager to continue collaborating with the city and our supporters to bring exceptional musical experiences to Central Alberta.

The support from the City of Red Deer has been crucial in allowing us to achieve our goals and share the joy of music with a broader audience. We are grateful for the recognition and encouragement we have received and are motivated to continue our mission of enriching the cultural fabric of our community.

Thank you, Red Deer, for believing in the power of music and for supporting the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra. Together, we will continue to create beautiful, lasting memories and inspire future generations through the universal language of music. Here’s to another successful season filled with harmony, creativity, and community spirit.

We will be announcing our third season soon and it will include a performance at Music Conference Alberta (in Red Deer) featuring alphorn soloist Louise McMurray, a holiday concert featuring the story and music of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (with a Red Deer twist), music from Wonka, and holiday favourites, Sound the Trumpets with a special guest artist, and CACO goes to the movies. We will also have a New Year’s Eve Gala at Festival Hall featuring music for dancing (or listening), cold hors d’ouvres and midnight champagne. Keep an eye on www.centralalbertachamberorchestra.com and our Facebook page for details as soon as they become available.
