Robbery suspect arrested by Red Deer RCMP

A 30-year-old Red Deer resident, Aurie Peigan, has been arrested and charged with robbery after RCMP responded to a 911 call reporting a robbery in progress.

On June 29, at approximately 12:55 a.m., Red Deer RCMP received the distress call stating there was a robbery in progress at a business in the Anders Park East neighbourhood.

After some investigation, RCMP determined the suspect allegedly entered the business and produced a hammer, demanding money from staff.

Coordination between the Red Deer RCMP general duty officers, Police Dog Services, Downtown Patrol Unit, and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems resulted in the suspect’s location and arrest a short distance from the scene and without incident.

Mounties say Peigan was taken before a justice of the peace and was released with conditions. His next court date is scheduled for July 29, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
