New campground opening in Sylvan Lake’s Pogadl Park

Sylvan Lake’s Pogadl Park Campground will be open for business on July 12, and booking for the area is opening today, July 2.

The site has 10 sites with power and sewer, 32 with power only, and four dedicated tent sites with no power, water, or sewer.

There is a free shower house and two indoor washroom facilities on site. Every site has picnic tables and a fire pit, and there is a camp store that will sell firewood and ice.

This campground is expected to provide additional accommodations for visitors coming to Sylvan Lake, service local groups and organizations hosting events at the park, and support the Sylvan Lake Gulls baseball team by ensuring close accommodations for home games and other events.

Town officials say the campground’s opening should benefit the community by creating jobs and generating revenue that can be reinvested into the town for future improvements and additional opportunities. It’s anticipated visitors staying at the Pogadl Park campground will contribute to the local economy by supporting retail businesses and other services unique to the community.

The campground is part of the third phase of developments happening at Pogadl Park. The Town is also planting 670 trees, shrubs, and other greenery at the park in partnership with a $10,000 grant through Tree Canada’s Community Tree Grants program.
