Alberta NDP leader shares aspirations for Alberta
Newly elected Alberta New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Naheed Nenshi says that the expansions coming to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre are necessary to ensure the city can serve its growing region, but the changes are overdue.
The provincial party leader spent some of his youth growing up in Red Deer and has many thoughts on changes and projects in the region. He stresses the importance of improving the hospital’s ability to handle cardiovascular issues and the need for a cardiac catheterization lab as currently, people with serious conditions are airlifted to Calgary or Edmonton.
“I applaud the UCP for finally announcing the growth of that hospital, but it’s far too late and we need to make sure that the services that go into that are the services that are really needed in the region.”
