Red Deerians reminded of Fireworks Bylaw ahead of Canada Day
As Canada Day approaches, Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) is reminding residents of the Fireworks Bylaw, which regulates the sale, possession, and use of fireworks within city limits.
City officials say the bylaw aims to ensure fireworks are used safely and responsibly by individuals with the proper training and qualifications.
According to the bylaw, a permit is required to discharge any type of fireworks, including consumer, display, and pyrotechnic fireworks. To obtain a permit, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The permit holder must be a certified Fireworks Supervisor or Pyrotechnician as recognized by Natural Resources Canada.
- Obtain written consent from the landowner where the fireworks will be discharged.
- Provide a detailed description of the fireworks event and a site plan.
- Pay the necessary permit and inspection fees.
