The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame has announced some changes to its board of directors following its Annual General Meeting.

The Hall welcomes Kelly Blackshaw, Al Lucas, Kerry Moynihan, and Stephen Ohene-Adjei to the board.

Officials say Kelly Blackshaw, co-founder of KidSport Society Alberta and former vice chair of Alberta Sport Connection, brings over four decades of leadership and sport development in Alberta. She has chaired Alberta Masters Games and served on the Calgary Olympic Development Association board. She also brings over 40 years of business experience as co-owner and president of Foothills Health Consultants Ltd. and vice president of INLIV Inc., two corporations dedicated to the health and wellness of Canadians. As an honored member of the ASHF, officials say she wishes to preserve and celebrate the accomplishments of Alberta, athletes, builders, and teams.

Al Lucas is described as a proud Albertan who grew up in the Lethbridge area, moving to Red Deer in 1986. He played sports all his life from hockey, to golf, to baseball. Lucas is active in central Alberta, supporting many non-profit organizations and events. He has been involved in the media on and off over the past 40 years and currently works with Harvard Media in Red Deer.

Kerry Moynihan graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Sports Administration from Laurentian University. Officials say he has spent over 40 years holding senior management positions with provincial/national sports federations including cycling, canoeing, shooting, gymnastics, alpine skiing, and university sports. He was the General Manager of both the 1995 and 1997 Canada Games. Moynihan is retired and lives in Cochrane, Alberta, where he serves on the Town’s Parks and Recreation Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors for Field Hockey Canada.

Stephen Ohene-Adjei, meantime, is described as a seasoned accountant and financial manager with a background in sports coaching. He served as a wrestling coach at Lethbridge Collegiate Institute from 2012 to 2016, guiding teenagers in the sport’s techniques and instilling values of good sportsmanship. Currently, Stephen continues to leverage his leadership skills in both his professional role as a Manager at Pivotal LLP and his volunteer activities.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kelly, Al, Kerry, and Stephen to our board of directors. Their diverse backgrounds and proven leadership will bring fresh perspectives and invaluable expertise as we continue to advance our mission and serve our community,” said Board Chair Dale Henwood.

The board also thanks retiring board members Shirley McClellan, Lisa Miller, Leslie Sproule, and Don Oszli.

Dale Henwood left this message for the retiring board members, “The commitment and expertise of Lisa, Shirley, Don, and Leslie have been a cornerstone of our Board’s success. Their leadership has helped shape the Hall’s growth and impact, and their contributions will be remembered with deep appreciation.”
