The Red Deer Catholic Regional Education Foundation is funding 20 innovative projects across the division this coming school year, it shares.

It will also award four scholarships to grads, plus one alumni scholarship, for a total of $28,500 in support.

“For over 15 years, the Red Deer Regional Catholic Education Foundation has been raising resources from our community to fund faith-based initiatives that cannot be funded or provided through government sources,” says Kim Pasula, foundation chair.

“This year, the board of directors is pleased that a unique collection of innovative and environmental projects and scholarships have been approved to maintain our commitment and dedication to nurturing and promoting Catholic education in our community and making Christ known to all of the beautiful children we were created to serve.

Pasula adds that the board has gratitude and recognizes all of the donors, philanthropists and sponsors that have allowed the foundation to offer what it can.

This year, $500 Grade 12 scholarships were awarded to École Secondaire Notre Dame High School student Devon McConnell, as well as St. Joseph High School students Ariel Dawn Moffat, Krysel Kanu, and Jessica Njeri Muchiri. Alumnus Thomas Bouchard was the sole recipient of an alumni scholarship this year, totalling $1,500.
